Special Notices

Alan has received the following letter from KATJA’s father:
“It is much consolation knowing that you loved Katja and showed such a lot of sympathy for us. As you know, the loss of Katja has shocked all of us. And this shock has not yet faded away. But your comfort and your sympathy have helped us with the experience of Katja’s death, has given support to us to learn that she has gone, but also to know that we are not alone with our grief. Especially the contributions of the four friends of Katja gave us an impression how popular she was with your parish. In the meantime Katja was buried in the small cemetery of Berlin-Friedenau. Your colleague, the priest of the Baptist Church of Berlin, held a sympathetic speech during the short service. And then four of us “copied” your customs and delivered short addresses in the memory of Katja. Thus, we could say “good bye” to Katja in a way she would have loved to. In spring I would like to come back on Katja’s request for having erected a bench of memory at the seaside. By then a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and thank you for your warm and respectful words in the service. Alexander”

NATTERS will be closed on Tuesday, December 29th, and will re-open on January 5th.

The PARENT & TODDLER GROUP which meets on Tuesday from 9.30 – 11.30am requires more helpers. If you are able to help, even on an occasional basis, please let Linda know. They especially need someone to oversee the group on January 5th, which is the date on which they next meet.

WOW! The next Ladies’ Breakfast will be on Saturday, January 16th at 8.00am. Amanda Hughes will be sharing with us about her recent trip to India with the BMS. Please add your name to the list on the notice board if you wish to attend, and indicate specific dietary requirements, including vegetarian, as a full English Breakfast will be offered that morning.

THE 2010 CHURCH DIRECTORY is being prepared. Please let Linda know as soon as possible if there are any amendments or additions, especially your e-mail address, which we would appreciate knowing, even if you would like it omitted from the Directory.

On Monday, 18th January at 7.45pm there will be a Prayer Meeting at Ashford Baptist Church, in Station Road, to pray specifically for the STREET PASTOR scheme.
